About
Us
The Spearman Volunteer Fire Department is responsible for providing fire and rescue services for the City of Spearman and half of Hansford County. We have mutual aid agreements with Gruver,Tx., Ochiltree County, Hutchinson County, Roberts County, and Texas County in the Oklahoma Panhandle. Our coverage area is approximately 450 sq. miles, not including our mutual aid agreements. We serve a total population of approximately 5900 people. Our department does not provide EMS services although several of our fire fighters are cross trained as EMT-Bs. We work closely with our local EMS service, H & S EMS. We provide rescue services for them and occasionally respond with them as a support crew when needed. Our motto is "Duty Our Pride" and our mission statement is simple: To protect the lives and property of the citizens. We operate over the "air" on 154.340 mhz. We are a 510-c3 organization. We have an ISO rating of a 4 in the city.
The City of Spearman has a population of 3100 and is located approximately 100 miles north of Amarillo, Texas in the northern Texas Panhandle.

Being an all volunteer department has it's advantages. We have a wide diversity of backgrounds and occupations ranging from heavy equipment operators to computer techs. We also have 150+ years of training and fire department experience total between active members. That given as a whole the SVFD has a tremendous data base within it's members to draw upon.
