Drill Night - Live Fire Training
Outdoor burning sometimes is a necessity. The dry vegetation, low precipitation, low humidity, high temperatures and high winds we are currently experiencing have our area fire danger listed at" Moderate" to "Extreme" every day. If you are planning an outdoor burn or "Controlled" burn in the SVFD response area, we at SVFD ask that you please report this burn ahead of time at the Hansford County Sheriff's Office at 806.659.4140. Fire Prevention is one of our most important jobs as a fire fighter. Inside our own homes is where we stand to have the most to loose. Check out our Home Safety Page for some helpful hints SVFD has 3 new "Probie" firefighters. They have completed our 15 hour Indoctrination Course and began their 90 day probationary period. We at SVFD are always looking for new recruits. We are an all volunteer department, the job is not for everyone, we set our standards high, it can be a very demanding but also a very rewarding job.
