Drill Night - Live Fire Training

Fire Prevention, Fire Suppression, and Fire Rescue "Protecting Lives and Property", it's more than some guys showing up in funny suits and squirting water. We may be responding to someone's home on fire working against those precious minutes between a total loss and saving a lifetime of memories and possessions. We may be responding to a vehicle accident with someone trapped inside the wreckage and in desperate need of emergency medical care all the while their "Golden Hour" is ticking away. It may be a grass fire, tank battery fire, vehicle fire, hazardous materials situation, gas leak, smoke smell or scare, fire inspection, public fire education,............. that will be responding to. The list keeps growing. Training is a vital part of any fire department. We need to keep current on the latest and greatest and go back to the basics for a refresher.  Spearman Volunteer Fire Department meets the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month for training as well as attend several area schools each year.

The pictures on this page and the following pages are from a training exercise. This was an old condemned building in our city that was to be destroyed. We were fortunate enough to be able to utilize it and several others for "Live Fire Training".  Incident Command, Water Supply, Pump Operations,  Fire Streams, Fire Control, Exposure Protection, Ventillation, and SCBA  are all part of the training exercise.

The more I learn in this business, the more I find out I don't know. The learning process is endless and education is priceless.
